Welcome to the official Substack for Technology, Religion & the Future—Columbia University’s innovative seminar led by Professor David Kittay. Each semester, a new cohort takes the baton, exploring how technology transforms religious experience and what the future might hold for both fields.

Our Mission

This site is more than a class blog—it’s a living archive and community initiative. We’re committed to sharing insights, hosting public events in New York City, and connecting students, faculty, and the broader community around urgent questions at the intersection of technology and religion.

Why We’re Here

  • Events: Find details about our semester’s conference, panels, and breakout sessions—created by students, for students, and the broader NYC community. Each new cohort continues this tradition, ensuring relevance and ongoing dialogue.

  • Reflections & Learnings: Read thought-provoking posts, personal essays, and group projects. Our content unpacks readings, ethical debates, and lived experiences, always considering the future role of technology in religious and spiritual life.

  • Continuity: You’ll see work from past and present students, ensuring that what we build together lives on, semester after semester, as future classes carry the mission forward.
